Sneak peak: Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (beta)

As if we need a reason to play Monster Hunter World, haha! But of course, it’s always nice to have more content. So, without further ado, Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne!

The first thing on our to do list is creating a character and, of course, choosing your totally cute Palico creature. But can’t I just use my character of Monster Hunter World, I hear you ask? Yes, you can in the final game. But for this beta, just create a new character. And you definitely want to take a look at all the new stuff that the developers added. I mean, if you going to be in a world full of snow and ice, you want to dress the part, right?

There is a tutorial to explain the basics of the game. Again, If you already played the original game, you don’t need it as such, but if you haven’t played for a while, it might be handy to brush up on your monster hunting skills, right? Keep in mind that a cold world means the freezing temperatures will effects you. I love how you can select a mission and still have the chance to adjust your character accordingly, in order to prepare yourself as best you can for that particular mission. After that, you start at a base camp to make some final preparations and then we’re good to go!

And now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for; the new stuff! Let’s start with something very awesome; riding monsters! You can now use Raider Ride Call to ride small monsters. Let me just state for the record that this is an excellent feature, and I’m certain you’re going to love it! Besides this new game mechanic, there will be new quests, new locations and new monsters added to the already expansive Monster Hunter universe!

While playing one of the new mission, I was attacked by skunks. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I’m hunting and slaying the biggest and baddest monsters this, or any other, world has ever seen, usually without even batting an eye. But when I came across some skunks, I’m not exactly sure what happened, but they attacked me. And to be completely honest, before I knew it, I lost a lot of health. So beware fellow hunters, beware, because the outlands are more vicious and unforgiving than ever!

I was really looking forward to this expansion and if you like the original game, you are going to love all the additions that are added to Iceborne! And by the way, pay attention to the menu screen, and tell me that the animal on the right isn’t just too darn cute!

A second beta will be available for all PS4™ users from 3am PDT/11am BST on Friday, June 28 through 3am PDT/11am BST on Monday, July 1!
